Suggestions for Sports, Team, and Athlete Additions - (USA)
As I'm sure you've noticed, FanIQ has a ton of different sports that stray from the norm; such as kiteboarding, fishing, and poker, as well as some that you may never have heard of; such as netball. These can all be found under "More Sports" at the top of the page, in the black navigation bar: We're always taking suggestions, and we're always growing. Is there something you don't see here that you think should be? (Make sure to look under "Olympics" for these sports:

Things you only forget once - I hope. - (USA)
I've started pounding the pavement again. And on Saturday I pounded it hard - two hours. And here are some observations: I love, hate, worship and denegrate my sports bra. It is all that is evil, and I've no doubt when it eventually parts company with me, I'll shed a tear. The instructions to get into it almost require a degree in engineering, but you literally.do.not.move. When did I forget that running + chewing gum + no water bottle is the worst idea ever? The Evil Sports Bra removes the need

Muffin Inspiration - (USA)
Like many parents around the world, I spend a large part of each Saturday attending my children's sports games. Currently, we have soccer, netball and basketball teams to cheer for and encourage. While rising early on a wintry Saturday morning to stand outside in the cold is not one of life's greatest pleasures, it does at least become bearable if there is a hot drink to sip and something high in carbs to eat. Some entrepreneurial chaps have sensibly decided that parents like me are an e

Malawi netball juniors leave Saturday for World Championship - (USA)
Malawi Under-21 national netball team will leave Saturday for the Cook Islands where they are expected to take part in the World Youth Netball Championship, Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has said. The squad was scheduled to leave the country on Wednesday but the trip was cancelled and shrouded in doubts after NAM failed to secure Visas. The team has since been granted visas to the Cook Islands which they applied from their representatives in South Africa. NAM General Secretary Hellen

Home Ground - (USA)
Ger is on hols till end of the year. While we have already planned the usual camps for them (they had just came back from their scuba/ archery/ bowling camps), I hope we won’t tear out too much of our hair out the rest of the time. LOL. I don’t believe in spoonfeeding entertainment or activities to fill out her day (after all she is quite independent and already has a plan of what she is going to do). She remembered that the quota of borrowed books is doubled to 8 per person during school holid

TEENAGE GIRLS AND SPORT - (USA)
There's a thing that happens to teenage girls with regard to sport. There they all are growing up, doing really well with ballet and gymnastics and athletics and horse riding and hockey and netball and tennis and running, jumping, skipping, dancing and then suddenly, just like that, the majority of them stop. Why is that? I obviously stopped because my parents never came to watch me do anything and I lost interest, but that is clearly an unreasonable attitude because parents today over-watc

The moral gutting of Fiji and coming economic collapse : to raise our voices as one - (USA)
Professor Wadan Narsey For two and a half years, we have watched our society unraveling in bits and pieces. Too close to each incident and emotionally traumatized, we are unable to see the totality of the massive erosion that is taking place in our nation. Every civilized nation has institutions, glues, threads, moral values, and accepted social processes, that enable all citizens to fully contribute to their family’s and country’s growth and development. But what happens when all t

Which Projects Would You Fund? - (USA)
Yesterday, I posted Paul Faeth's thoughts of how to address problems of providing water to the poor. His organization (Global Water Challenge, GWC), collaborating with Ashoka’s Changemakers, put out an RFP for projects that would "catalyze local entrepreneurs to create a worldwide movement to end the water and sanitation crisis" in January 2008. They received 265 entries from 54 countries, and these are the ones they have funded or are considering funding. What they need from you is comments/

Wenger’s just a bad loser - Pulis - (USA)
Stoke manager Tony Pulis has accused Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger of being a bad loser and insists the Potters are not a dirty team. Wenger caused controversy 48 hours after Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League defeat for the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium when he suggested that some Stoke players had set out to deliberately injure his side and claimed they were “cowards”. I’m back, by popular request (well, one request anyway) - (USA)
One of my friends has recently announced her second pregnancy almost ten years after the birth of her first child. “I’m not worried about childbirth, sleepless nights or starting all over again with a baby,” she told me, “what I can’t face is the bloody Mother and Baby group again.” It brought it all back in hideous technicolour. Twenty women leaking hormones in a draughty church hall with only a packet of shortbread, a leaflet on meningitis and their howling, shitting, puking babies for e

Mags: Model search winners - (USA)
You might recall the media interest around Girlfriend magazine's 2008 Model Search finalists, which included then 12-year-old (she's now 13) Karla Reid. Well, the votes are in and it's not Reid but 15-year-old Kate Budrodeen (pictured on left) who's taken the crown this time 'round (as with past winners Sarah Stephens, Abbey Lee and Catherine McNeil, the media coverage will likely kick in when she eventually 'makes it' overseas). As I've mentioned before, I was impressed to see that Girlfriend/Ch

Tecmology - (USA)
For the past few weeks I’ve been getting a Ricko-like onslaught of contributions from a reader who prefers to be known as the Hungry Hungry Hipster. As I’ve explained to this person, I prefer not to credit people by their pseudonyms, because I think using real names leads to better accountability and keeps the site from being cluttered with ridiculous screen names (like, y’know, Hungry Hungry Hipster). “No problem,” said HHH, “just don’t credit me if you don’t want to.” And so a lot of uncredite
