Offbeat and quirky, World Games make their mark in Taiwan - (USA)
The World Games, an Olympics-sanctioned event, showcases 31 sports that have regional appeal but globally fly under the radar. A Facebook Cause the Sports Blogosphere Can Really Get Behind - (USA)
I usually ignore every Mob War request, passed drink and cause invitation that comes my way on Facebook. But sometimes I put my distaste for the relentless solicitation practices of my "friends" on the social network aside in favor of doing what's morally right. So when this popped into my "Requests" bucket, I had to give it a second look: "Support my cause, Petition To Get Pole Dancing in 2012 Olympics . Help by joining, donating, or inviting your friends! Olympic Observations - (USA)
We have a thick orange electrical cord winding from a surge protector in the family room past the bathroom, through the hall, up the stairs, through the living room and into the kitchen wall JUST so the guys can get their nightly Olympic fix. I kind of like watching with them but the hours and hours of footage have spawned some interesting thoughts. There's just so much material to poke fun of it's hard to know where to start. 1. If you want to succeed at the Olympics get a really great name.

Care for a few rounds of Glima? - (USA)
The Olympic games have always had their share of unusual sports. Take the biathlon. I mean, who decided that cross-country skiing and then shooting stuff went together like chocolate and peanut butter? No matter. Niche as it may be, the biathlon seems to be holding its own in the Olympic games pantheon and doesn't need any boosterism from the likes of me. What I find more interesting are the games that the sporting world's version of natural selection chose not to favor. Ladies and gentlemen,
