WFMW-Summer Tips - (USA)
I have an odd assortment of quirky, but helpful summer tips. And let's just assume that I'm not odd.  Or quirky.  Ahem . So, here they are, in no certain order (like I need to point that out): Splinter removal is easier if you soak area in olive oil first. Toss coffee grounds in vegetable or flower garden for healthier soil. Apply lemon juice to mildewed towels, clothes and let the sun dry them. Pure vanilla extract will deter mosquitos (and make you smell like dessert)

Under the weather? Depression Cake will cure what ails ya… - (USA)
Two weeks ago, Jim and I drove back to Western NY to gather up what was left of our earthly goods (kindly stored in a building at Beccy’s), 14 hours on the road TO New York, and 18 hours back (the rental truck felt happiest popping along at 55 to 60 miles an hour, and we wanted it to be happy all the way home). We brought lots of tools, furniture, the rest of my kitchen wares (oh, how I’ve missed you all!), books (here a groan from Jim), and THE FLU. We were able to unload the truck fairly quic

Recipes Using Kranskys - (USA)
I found out the other day, that kranskys or Krainer Wurst in other places, if you buy a lot is not cheap. But if you are not so generous, it is a good cheap meal. This is another quick and budget-friendly meal from the collections Food & Wine assembled recently. It’s quite good and certainly nutritious. What Cookbook Publishers Can Learn from the Music Industry - (USA)
The similarities between the music and book industries tend to diverge when you examine the smallest possible component of each format: unlike songs, book chapters aren't usually self contained. But recipes are a different matter. A recent story in the New York Times looks at the upcoming Web site, Cookstr, which aims to catalog recipes from top chefs: Cookstr, which will be supported by advertising revenues, will aggregate recipes from published cookbooks. All of the authors will have their

2q earnings so far - (USA)
via clusterstock , karl denninger : Stocks are, at their core, priced on earnings growth, with the most-common ratio used for such metrics being P/E/G, or Price-to-earnings-growth. But earnings are not growing, they're contracting - dramatically - in percentage terms over year-ago levels. How can it be otherwise? Even with no inefficiencies due to firms having too many employees for the revenue contraction that is occurring, a 30% reduction in business done should lead to a 30% decline in

round 2 - (USA)
So it seems the house is sorted. I say seams because over the last week I have learned nothing if not to take nothing for granted. Getting shafted whilst under pressure does tend to make you mistrustful. Anyway, assuming I am just a paranoid old cow, this time in three weeks we should be waking up in our new house in sunny Queensland, listening to the distant crash of waves. All of which means it's time for round two of this insane battle. The big pack. As I walk from one room to another all I
