Camping with Kids - (USA)
There’s nothing 6 year olds or older kids love more than being in the outdoors . Camping is an outdoor recreational activity involving spending one or more nights in a tent, a primitive structure, a travel trailer or recreational vehicle at a campsite with the purpose of getting away from civilization and enjoying nature. National parks and other publicly owned natural areas are popular venues for camping. Camping is often restricted by law to designated sites in order to prevent campers fr

Its also one of the strongest tools they have at their disposal to learn other skills abilities, like learning a language, team work, story writing, acting, role playing, etc. Very often, this learning takes the form of pretend play and dress up games, which allow the children to become a completely different personality and live incredible adventures. Manufacturers have developed toys that encourage children to use

Good Friends and Raspberry Crisps - (USA)
When I was in my early 20’s, I was living in Boston and enjoying the fresh-out-of-college phase of my life. One summer, after ending a long-term relationship, I was confronted by the question “now what?” which left me simultaneously a little bit scared, yet also a little bit excited. In times like those I tend to throw myself headlong into my hobbies, and as it happened, I was taking a pottery class. Pottery was the perfect solution for me at that time (to a point) — while at the wheel, I could

How to Memorialize a Pet - (USA)
Losing a pet is never easy, but  a creative and respectful memorial project can help bereaved owners work through their grief . Building or doing something beautiful in your pet’s memory allows you to channel sorrow into positive emotion. If the lost companion was a family pet, memorial projects also provide an opportunity to discuss the pet and your loss with the rest of your family. Children in particular need organized memorial activities to remember a lost pet. Plant a Garden One great w

Home Business Ideas For Women - (USA)
by Brenda Hoffman There are a lot of home business ideas in existence today. Some of these ideas are more geared for women. If you are a woman who does not want to come up with your own idea, here are some popular ideas to consider: 1. You can help women find the cosmetics they need. Thanks For The Memories - (USA)
The holidays always bring with them their own special version of fun. This year was no different, as I had both new memories created and others revisted because they're just so fun. One aunt and uncle who live on the south side of Chicago (meaning south suburbs) requested that my mom reimburse them for their gas to drive to her house (we're in the north suburbs). Forget the fact that my mom provided all the food and drink for the meal and sent them home with leftovers and happily hosted them an

Review: ‘Julie and Julia’ A Masterpiece - (USA)
I don’t recall liking much of Nora Ephron’s work other than “When Harry Met Sally.” In fact, if I knew she made “Julie and Julia,” I probably would have avoided it, since “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail” just kind of mash together in my mind. But “Julie and Julia” is more than good: it’s brilliant cinema. The first thing that grabbed me was the character work. The hero, Julia Powell (her real life blog is here ) is a foodie blogger played by Amy Adams. I’m used to watching Amy

Holiday Gifts: 10 Frugal and Homemade Gift Ideas - (USA)
I must admit to being a pinch of Grinch with a dash of Scrooge when it comes to holiday gifts. I’m not a huge fan of spending big bucks on Christmas presents or dishing out dollars on holiday decorations. I just don’t think busting the bank for one day makes much financial sense, especially in this economy. I do love celebrating the holidays simply though. There’s no better gift to give a friend, loved one, or neighbor than something creative, homemade, or thoughtful. To help celebrate the ho

By Karen Nineteen-month-old Ariane accompanied her dad, Anthony Bourdain, on his recent visit to Miami. Unfortunately, the photographer only caught the back of her head, but it’s better than nothing. Daddy's Little Girl (Photo - Lynne Sladky, AP) During the interview, Bourdain said he’s not interested in writing a children’s cookbook nor hosting a children’s TV show. Well, DUH! Spaghetti and fruit salad... - (USA)
Dear Mama, I intend to write you last night, but I was tired and slept immediately after dinner. Yesterday, I made fruit salad and cooked spaghetti so we can celebrate your birthday. I was hesitant at first Mama, because I really don't know how to prepare the fruit salad. I just went for gut feel, as I try to recall how you prepare your fruit salad then. Angel said it tastes just like yours, but I know it still need lots of improvements. As for the spaghetti, my first time to cook without a co
